Adventure Kitchen is Born
Adventure Kitchen was launched in Bigfork, Montana on January 6, 2007. Surrounded by natural beauty, the town is an ideal setting for sensual experiences--foodies abound in Bigfork!
On that night in early 2007, a group of devoted foodies came together with a simple mission: to share their love of cooking by surprising each other with a favorite dish. No one knew what to expect, but what happened was a very special indeed.
The idea was to bring ingredients for each dish and to cook the dish on-the-spot. Each dish was a "small plate," so we could sample many tastes without getting too full.
The chef went into the kitchen, provided a brief explanation of the dish & prepared and plated it---we selected complimentary wines for each dish. We played texas hold em during our cooking sessions. What a great night!
Our dishes included: avocado soup (Chefs MGx2); pasta with roasted red bell pepper & george dickel sauce (Chef AG), roasted garlic-parmesan-sour cream potato mash (Chef PM) and barbecued shrimp (LG); south american chile relleno (Chefs MGx2); bananas foster (Chef DR).
At the evening's end,* we pledged to do it again and we decided to give it a name: so it came to be known as "Adventure Kitchen."
The original chapter of Adventure Kitchen is Adventure Kitchen Bigfork. Additional chapters are being formed in San Diego and Belize. Adventure Kitchen is going global, so put on your apron and start your own chapter today.
* There was also a kitty litter incident at evening's end, but I won't go into that now ;=))
